Here is some information about other dance communities. It would be a good idea to verify the time and place before you hop in the car. Contra dance schedules are always subject to change.

    Contra dances Sharon Westlake and Stan Golab are offering Argentine Tango classes every Thursday, all levels are welcome.   http://www.chattanoogatango.com/ .

      Bryan Walls maintains a comprehensive schedule of Contra dance events in the mid-south. He also has a really neat map.  


     The Misty Mountain Dancers hold monthly Contra dances in Sewanee, TN.   Go here for more information: Website .


  Birmingham holds Contra dances on the second Saturday of each month at the YWCA in downtown Birmingham. They also have occasional "Unplugged" dances, which give callers and musicians an opportunity to practice their skills and dancers the chance to dance in an intimate, friendly setting. 


      The North Alabama Country Dance Society in Huntsville usually holds dances the first and third Saturdays of every month.
They also host a great weekend called Once In A Blue Moon


      They dance Friday nights in Nashville. They also host a Playford Ball in the spring and the Music City Masquerade in October. 


      The John C Campbell Folk School has been holding dances for years and years. They usually hold dances two Saturdays each month.    Atlanta has their weekly Contra dance on Friday nights. They also dance some Tuesday evenings. Their weekend festival is in November.

   Ballroom Dancing at Allemande Hall, 7400 Standifer Gap Road (@ Gunbarrel Rd.), every Tuesday.      Choo Choo Shag Club meets every Thursday night in the Tropicana Room of Chattanooga Billiards Club, on Jordan Drive near Shallowford Road & Lee Highway.  Free lessons at 7:30 p.m., open dancing following 'til 10:30.  No cover;  donation for the DJ, who plays wonderful Carolina beach music. Smoking allowed / alcohol served.  Contact Rose (423) 339-1713 or choochooshagclub.com .
